Privacy Policy - Pawcket

This Privacy Policy explains how Instinct Theory Inc. ("Pawcket," "we," "us," or "our") collects, uses, shares, and protects information when you use the Pawcket website and related services (the "Service"). By using the Service, you agree to the practices described here. If you do not agree, please do not use the Service.

1. Information We Collect

Information you provide

• Account information: your name, email address, and login credentials.
• Pet profile information: your pet's name, species, breed, sex, birthday, weight, photo, allergies, medications, vaccination records, insurance details, veterinarian name and contact information, and personality or preference notes.
• Uploaded content: photos, documents, and medical records you upload, and information extracted from them.
• Chat content: the messages, answers, and symptom details you enter when using chat and triage features.
• Sharing information: email addresses of people you invite, and details of the access you grant them.
• Communications: messages you send us through our Contact Us page.
• Payment information: if you subscribe to a paid plan, payment is handled by our third-party payment processor. We do not store your full card number.

Information collected automatically

• Device and usage data: browser type, device type, operating system, IP address, pages viewed, features used, and timestamps.
• Cookies and similar technologies: used to keep the Service working, remember preferences, and understand usage and advertising performance. See Section 6.
• Notification data: if you enable push notifications, we collect the device token needed to send them.

Information from others

• Information that co-owners or people with shared access enter into a pet profile you share.
• Information from third-party sign-in providers, if you choose to use one.

2. How We Use Information

• Provide, operate, and maintain the Service, including pet profiles, chat, triage, sharing, and reminders.
• Generate AI-powered responses, summaries of uploaded records, and suggested profile updates.
• Send service messages, including account notices, share invitations, and medication and vaccination reminders.
• Process payments and manage subscriptions.
• Respond to your questions and support requests.
• Monitor, secure, and improve the Service, and prevent fraud and abuse.
• Measure and improve our marketing, including advertising performance.
• Comply with legal obligations and enforce our Terms of Use.

3. AI Processing

The Service uses artificial intelligence to power features such as chat, symptom triage, and record summaries. To provide these features, the information you submit (including pet profile details, chat messages, and uploaded documents) may be processed by AI service providers acting on our behalf. We use these providers only to deliver the Service. AI output may be inaccurate. Please review our Medical Disclaimer.

4. How We Share Information

We do not sell your personal information for money. We share information only as described below:

• With people you choose: when you share a pet profile, the people you invite or approve can see the information in that profile. Co-owners can also edit it. You control this access and can revoke it at any time.
• Service providers: companies that help us operate the Service, such as hosting, database, AI, payment processing, email and notification delivery, analytics, and customer support providers. They may access information only as needed to perform services for us.
• Advertising and analytics partners: if you accept marketing cookies, tools such as advertising pixels may collect information about your visit to measure and improve advertising. See Section 6.
• Legal and safety: when required by law, legal process, or government request, or to protect the rights, safety, and security of Pawcket, our users, or others.
• Business transfers: in connection with a merger, acquisition, financing, or sale of assets, in which case we will require the recipient to honor this policy.
• With your consent or at your direction.

5. Sharing Between Users

Pet profiles may contain medical and personal details. Anyone you give access to may see everything in the profile, and information they enter may be visible to you and other people with access. Share links and QR codes should be given only to people you trust. Owners can view who has access and revoke it in the Active Shares section.

6. Cookies and Tracking

We use the following categories of cookies and similar technologies:

• Essential: required for sign-in, security, and core functionality. These cannot be turned off.
• Analytics: help us understand how the Service is used so we can improve it.
• Marketing: help us measure and improve our advertising, including on social media platforms.

You can accept, reject, or manage non-essential cookies through our cookie banner and can also change settings in your browser. Blocking some cookies may affect how the Service works. Some browsers and devices offer Global Privacy Control or "Do Not Track" signals; where required by law, we honor opt-out preference signals.

7. Data Retention

We keep your information for as long as your account is active and as needed to provide the Service. If you delete a pet profile or your account, we delete the associated information, except where we must retain it to comply with legal obligations, resolve disputes, or enforce our agreements. Backup copies may persist for a limited period before being permanently removed. Chat history saved to a pet profile is deleted when that profile is deleted.

8. Your Choices and Controls

• Access and update your account and pet profile information at any time in the app.
• Delete a pet profile (owners only), which removes its information and records.
• Revoke access for anyone you have shared a profile with.
• Manage push and email notifications in your device or account settings.
• Manage cookies through the cookie banner or your browser.
• Request deletion of your account or a copy of your information through our Contact Us page.

9. Your Privacy Rights

California residents

If you are a California resident, the California Consumer Privacy Act (as amended) gives you the right to:

• Know what personal information we collect, use, disclose, and share, and access a copy of it.
• Delete personal information we have collected from you, subject to legal exceptions.
• Correct inaccurate personal information.
• Opt out of the sale or sharing of personal information for cross-context behavioral advertising. We do not sell personal information for money, but using advertising cookies may be considered "sharing" under California law. You can opt out at any time by rejecting marketing cookies through our cookie banner or by contacting us.
• Limit the use of sensitive personal information. We do not use sensitive personal information for purposes beyond providing the Service.
• Non-discrimination for exercising your rights.

Other US states and regions

Residents of other states or regions with privacy laws may have similar rights, including access, correction, deletion, and the ability to opt out of targeted advertising. To exercise any right, contact us through our Contact Us page. We may need to verify your identity before fulfilling a request, and we will respond within the time required by applicable law. You may use an authorized agent to submit a request on your behalf.

10. Security

We use reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect your information, including access controls and secure infrastructure provided by our hosting and service providers. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, so we cannot guarantee absolute security. You are responsible for keeping your login credentials safe.

11. Children's Privacy

The Service is intended for adults 18 and older and is not directed to children. We do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 18. If you believe a child has provided us with information, contact us and we will delete it.

12. International Users and Data Transfers

The Service is operated in the United States and information is processed and stored in the United States and other countries where our service providers operate. If you access the Service from outside the United States, you understand that your information may be transferred to and processed in the United States, which may have different data protection laws than your country.

13. Third-Party Links

The Service may link to third-party websites or services, such as poison control resources or veterinary providers. We are not responsible for their privacy practices, and we encourage you to review their policies.

14. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. If we make material changes, we will notify you through the Service or by email. Your continued use of the Service after changes take effect means you accept the updated policy.
